Re: Capital Markets AMM presentation tomorrow at 10 am EDT.

VIPIN BHARATHAN

Hi all,

Our thanks to Mark Richardson who presented from Australia between the hours of 1 am and 2:10 am local time. We are grateful for his efforts as Bancor invented the AMM and DeFi as we know it.
For those that missed this great presentation, the wiki page has been updated with the recording of Mark Richardson's presentation and subsequent discussions and questions.
Please visit: https://wiki.hyperledger.org/display/CMSIG/2021-10-06 to get a load of the video.

We will make his presentation (pdf or ppt) available when he shares this with us.
From the basics of AMMs to the intricacies of the evolution of protocols in Bancor and Uniswap, the gaps they were meant to answer etc. etc.
Some questions from our participants on institutionalization.

Hi all

DeFi is very much in the news, one of the main conundrums is how to bring regulation into the space.

Many decentral maximalists say we do not need regulation- especially if the governance is decentralized.

Do not be surprised if the regulators say, if all you have is regulatory arbitrage, then you do not have a good business model. How do we reconcile both.

The talk "Institutional use of AMM" may answer some of your questions in this convergence between DeFi and CeFi.

Also show up and question Mark Richardson....

Hi,

I posted the agenda for this week's call. In the context of the guide on how to handle vulnerability disclosures recently published by OpenSSF I would like us to discuss how this is being handled at Hyperledger and what we might want to do to improve the situation if necessary. Please, if you can, read the document before the call.

If anyone has something they'd like to add to the agenda, please, go ahead and do so.
Thanks.

Hyperledger TSC Election candidates and how to vote

David Boswell

I'd like to announce the candidates for the 2021-2022 Hyperledger Technical Steering Committee (TSC) election. There are 26 people running for 15 positions on the TSC.

This election is a chance for you to influence the direction and character of the Hyperledger community.  I encourage you to take the time to read the following candidate statements linked from this email and consider your vote carefully:

You will be using the OpaVote election tool using the Condorcet-IRV completion rule. It is a ranked voting system that allows you to weight candidates by placing them in an order of preference.

A ballot will be sent by email to all registered voters on Friday, October 1 and voting will remain open until 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time (GMT -7) on Friday, October 15.  If you are expecting a ballot and don't see one on Friday, first check your spam boxes as it may come from an unrecognized source. If you don't find it there, please send an email to election@....

Thank you,

David

Nicko, thanks for sharing these slides and it's great to read about the community activity that's been happening.

To add to what you mention in the slides about active discussions happening with community members in the #firefly-lab chat channel, I've been really encouraged to see a steady number of new people showing up and expressing interest in contributing.  Just this morning I saw this note from a new person in the channel:

"I'm Scarlett and currently a rising senior CS student. I'm here because I'm hoping Firefly can be my first open source contribution since it's still early on in development, has great documentation, and what I think the project is trying to achieve is super awesome."

I wanted to share since it seems like a nice proof point about how a community has been forming around the code over the last few months.

Thanks,
David

I will be giving an update on what has happened since the last time we brought FireFly to the TSC, including community growth and development milestones. I wanted to send out the slides that I will be going through ahead of time, in case anyone wants to review them in advance of the meeting.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Looking forward to meeting with you all tomorrow.

Agenda for the TSC call of Sep 23, 2021

Arnaud Le Hors

Hi all,

We'll have two main agenda items this week: one from the DCI WG and the other from the Firefly Lab which would like to move to Incubation.

https://wiki.hyperledger.org/display/TSC/2021+09+23+TSC+Meeting+Record

Note that the list of missing quarterly reports is growing. I'd appreciate if the Explorer, Avalon, Besu, and Caliper could get to it.
Thanks.
