I hope you enjoyed and maybe still are enjoying the festive season. I am writing to announce a call for a chair and possibly a vice-chair position. William has been an amazing asset to us all and will stay connected with the group, unfortunately however asked to be released from his position due to personal matters. Thank you William for everything you’ve done and your great guidance for over a year and a half now!

To all of you who may be interested in volunteering we put together a write up of the requirements and responsibilities from a chair(and vice chair). Please send either here or to me personally expression of interest. I hope many of you will offer to step up and we will be able to fill both positions.

Chair for Trade Finance SIG:
The major responsibility of the Chair is to ensure execution of below items. This does not mean working on them solely. It takes a village to build a successful SIG, and delegation is key to a healthy collaboration.
1. Recruiting and securing presenter/s
This is something that ideally we can all do. Are you speaking to someone amazing? Ask them to tell their story to the whole group! If one person can take ownership of this, we can actually make it much more streamlined
2. Writing up the agenda and sending out invite
This part is easy. Do you have 20 min of your fortnight? Just type out a simple email and let everyone know what will happen on the next call.
3. Recording and posting the recording on the wiki page.
You will need to show up to every call, hit record and then, after the call post it on the wiki. As long as you are there, it should be quite straight forward
4. Engagement with membership- advice, linkages to people and events, resources, etc.
Wanna be the PSSIG point of contact? People want to learn more! They want to get engaged, that’s awesome. Can you be the mentor?
5. Quarterly reports posted on the wiki
SIGs are overlooked by the Governing Board. Once every 3 months we write up a report for the GB and organize a SIG chairs call. How much of a leader do you see in yourself? Wanna show your guidance and help us make sure the GB is as excited as we are with the work we’re doing?
6. Communication with Hyperledger on IT and group topics for troubleshooting
IT is sometimes an issue… Yeah. Just help us by being the interface between the tech and the humans and work with the Hyperledger Staff to fix the issues that might emerge.
7. Feeding into other events by speaking about HL, blockchain and Public Sector
This is everyone’s responsibility, I guess. Lets make sure Hyperledger Public Sector SIG is shining and we are known in the world:)
8. Sorting out strategy for the group and consult with members about group utility and direction
While we all have our visions and opinions we do need a leader who will guide that discussion. Is that you? Please stand up and help with shaping the strategy
9. Leading the calls
Making the announcements, making sure the group is adhering to the code of conduct, reading out the antitrust policy notice

Ideal candidate:

1. Passionate about Trade Finance
2. With experience or willing to learn about Blockchain and TF
3. Organized
4. Able to devote about 5h a week to the group - to make sure the group is active and encourage participation by managing the mailing list and chat
5. Enthusiastic - it takes a bit of optimism, when people do not show up
6. Knowing how to work in open source or willing to learn
7. Already reading up and talking to people in TF - so that they can share their experience
8. Good communicator
