Next Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 10am EST, we'll hear from Rutgers Blockchain Hub student leaders Emily Hsiao and Sivani Divakarla as they share how their group helps students learn more about blockchain technology and gain hands-on experience, including a social impact project focused on helping social service workers and children in the foster care system. I wanted to share that the Hyperledger Climate Action and Accounting SIG has a guest speaker next Tuesday, November 2 at 8 AM pacific who will be speaking about open source MRV software for forestry, agriculture and other land uses. I know that there's been some discussion in this group recently about starting an agriculture focused sub-group, so I wanted to share about this since it is agriculture related. Active contributors should have received a ballot via email from the email address noreply@.... If you haven't voted yet, please do before the deadline so your voice can be included. The Climate Action and Accounting SIG would like to invite interested members from the Social Impact SIG, the Trade Finance SIG, Supply Chain SIG, and Climate Action SIG to join together to explore solutions leveraging blockchain to enhance Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting. With new developments such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive which extends the scope of CSR reporting and requires the audit of reported information), corporations must seek new ways to capture and share trusted information about their impact. Tackling this challenge will require subject matter expertise across the special interest groups in our community, and we see this as a great opportunity to break down silos and explore new ways to work together.
We would like to invite you to join the Climate Action and Accounting Special Interest Group meeting tomorrow Tuesday Oct 5th where we will be kicking off the project and inviting input to help define the project and explore how we might break down silos and work together on this important challenge as a community.
