Archiving private UTXO repo

Middleton, Dan

FYI I’ve requested that the private utxo repo be archived as we are no longer actively developing that idea.

https://github.com/hyperledger/sawtooth-private-utxo

(Instead we are more interested in the Private Data Objects lab which looks to be a more robust private transaction approach).

Dan

Re: Unofficial Hyperledger Sawtooth FAQ

Dan,

This is really a fantastic start. I would support making this the official FAQ at some point soon. Good future topic for #sawtooth-governance.

Once the signal-to-noise ratio is higher, yes the Sawtooth FAQ could be folded into something more official.

Quarterly Sawtooth update & Announcements

Middleton, Dan

Hi,

I realized we’ve been doing a ton of new stuff that we haven’t been advertising.

Did the steering committee update today – even if you’re regularly on chat, there’s probably a lot of this that you would have missed:

https://wiki.hyperledger.org/groups/tsc/project-updates/sawtooth-2018-jul

  • New Smart Contracts mechanism (wasm)
  • Consensus (multi-language support) …
    • Enabling several new algorithms
  • Porting internals to Rust
  • New RFC process to externalize design process

Etc. etc. don’t want to repeat it all here but hit the link ^

Cheers,

Dan

Sawtooth Tech Forum schedule

Middleton, Dan

We have some scheduling conflicts this Thursday and have canceled that session.

However we have a good backlog of subjects growing.

In coming weeks we will schedule one or two zero knowledge talks.

On 8/2 we will hear about minbft: https://github.com/nec-blockchain/minbft

We’ve also had a lot of interest in the Sawtooth performance work that’s in progress. We can look to get that conversation slotted in soon too.

Thanks,
Dan

Mark

Not a problem. Ironically this was our first attempt to join the discussion :)

One of the questions we were going to raise today was whether it makes sense to instigate a regular forum focused exclusively on Sawtooth performance & scalability? This is top of mind for us at the moment.

We appreciate there is a Performance & Scalability WG and also that the Caliper Rocket Chat is fairly active but this forum would look at this exclusively from the Sawtooth perspective so that we are clear about the various ways Sawtooth can be configured/tuned for production use.

The output from this can then inform the broader activities within the Hyperledger community.

What do people think?

Best

Duncan
