Detailed Balance Energy Tracking and Transactions on Hyperledger
Murat Okandan
We are developing a next-gen solar product with deeply embedded ICs and firmware that enables blockchain functionality. We would like to engage interested developers and partners to build the framework around this capability to support tracking, validation and transactions around energy generation, storage and use. This framework can further support local transactions for a wide range of applications and link to other blockchain enabled services, either as private or public ledgers. Once we have attracted sufficient developer interest, we will be looking for a sponsor to bring this to Hyperledger Labs. Tracy Kuhrt (Community Architect, Hyperledger) has provided an initial review. Please contact mokandan@... for further information.

Groups.io Migration Notification
Brendan OSullivan <bosullivan@...>
Greetings Hyperledger community! The Linux Foundation has connected with a new vendor called Groups.io, which provides mailing list services in a simple but modern interface. Groups.io offers all of the capabilities of our existing Mailman mailing service plus additional community tools that make it an exceptional service solution. We are planning to migrate your existing mailing list archives and user lists to Groups.io on April 18th starting at 9:30am PST. The migration will include details on subscriber preferences and owner or moderator privileges. During the migration window you will still be able to access the archives, however the delivery of messages sent to the mailing lists during this window will be delayed until after the migration of the archives and list members are complete. We will turn off new list signups during the migration window, then this functionality will be restored once it is complete. FAQs What are the key differences between Mailman and Groups.io?
How is the experience different for me as a list moderator or participant? In many ways, it is very much the same. You will still find the main group at your existing URL and sub-groups equate to the more focused mailing lists based on the community’s needs. Here is an example of main group and sub-group URL patterns, and their respective emails: https://lists.projectname.org/g/main https://lists.projectname.org/g/devs https://lists.projectname.org/g/ci What is different is Groups.io’s simple but highly functional UI that will make the experience of moderating or participating in the community discussions more enjoyable. If you’d like to learn more about using Groups.io , please reference their help documentation. If you need assistance with Groups.io, please email helpdesk@... for The Linux Foundation’s helpdesk.

Setting up a network for SPDX/Zephyr/Hyperledger
All, Wind River and LF have been having discussions about how to set up a network to allow SPDX[0] data to be put on-chain for the Zephyr[1] project. We'd like to use it for Hyperledger's SPDX data, as well. Hyperledger is looking at using an m5.large instance to host our node. This will be using SParts[2][3]. Ry

Re: Setting up a network for SPDX/Zephyr/Hyperledger
I have received no feedback. I noticed no code has been contributed: Also, it looks like m5.large may not have SGX access. Ry

Hi Ry,
Sorry, I did not get your earlier notifications as I joined today. As far as the ec2 instance sized m5.large is concerned, we can use sawtooth poet consensus algorithm, which doesn't require TEE. While on the other hand, sawtooth poet-SGX would require TEE.
We are still actively developing and will check in the code soon.

Re: Setting up a network for SPDX/Zephyr/Hyperledger
Hello Everyone, Here is a link to a PDF of the slides I created and used for delivering last night’s meetup presentation titled: Software Parts Ledger: Blockchain Trust with Open Source across a SupplyChain On the topic of SGX…the document contains slides I used to discuss the issues related to SGX. I have a link to a GitHub repo for a small “C” program that will report a machine’s SGX capability and availability. I have compiled it and executed it successfully. I hope this helps everyone to sort out the SGX use and deployment issues with locating machines that support the instruction set needed to fully employ PoET-SGX. Hi Mark, Thanks, Mark for the pointers. Initially, by the end of Q2 2018, SParts release will only be utilizing PoET consensus algorithm. Moreover, by the end of Q3, we will release the SParts version with PoET-SGX support. Regards, Sameer

#SharedCrypto discussions hashtag for Labs mailing list
#SharedCrypto
Sean Bohan <sean.bohan@...>
Folks working on the shared crypto library in the Labs mailing list: I want to suggest we use the same hashtag for all messages concerning the Shared Crypto Lib until it gets PROJECT status (and it's own mailing list) so we can keep somewhat organized and allow us to point new contributors to if and when we transition to a mailing list. For the time being, let's use: #SharedCrypto in the subject lines of our messages. See this example from the Healthcare team: Using those hashtags allows that community to segment their conversations w/in the HC WG. If you forget to use that hashtag, your message may get lost over time (or missed by those routinely using the hashtag) Thanks - Sea --

#SharedCrypto crypto-lib Meeting Tomorrow
#SharedCrypto
Hart Montgomery
Hi Everyone,
This is just a reminder email for the shared crypto-lib meeting tomorrow. We have a lot of things to discuss, including:
1. Recap of the discussion at the Amsterdam hackfest. 2. Recent work on (and how we want to proceed with) Z-mix. 3. How we want to handle moving forward with project incubation status. 4. Anything else people want to discuss (the basic signing library)?
Discussion on any (hopefully nonempty) subset of these should mean a good meeting. I hope to talk to many of you tomorrow!
Thanks, Hart

#SharedCrypto meetings at the Montreal Hackfest
#SharedCrypto
David Huseby <dhuseby@...>
Hi Everybody,
I'd like to propose that we plan an agenda and series of meetings for when we're all together in Montreal in a few weeks. I'd like to see us answer some of our lingering questions and actually write some code to move the library forward while we're there. Make it a true hackfest and land patches. Does anybody have topics they'd like to cover? Hart, will you add an agenda item for the next crypto-lib meeting to discuss the agenda for the hackfest? Thanks, Dave --- David Huseby Security Maven, Hyperledger The Linux Foundation +1-206-234-2392 dhuseby@linuxfoundation.org

This sounds like a great idea. I'd be happy to add an agenda item for next week's meeting. In the meantime, I'm going to be updating the proposal for incubation. I'll let everyone know when I have a draft of that that I think is worth public consumption. Thanks, Hart

#SharedCrypto crypto-lib meeting tomorrow
#SharedCrypto
Hart Montgomery
Hi Everyone,
This is just a reminder for tomorrow’s crypto-lib meeting. Currently we have on the agenda:
1. Discuss the project proposal document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JtFT5L-82egj6shgGXzTsNAg6_UHuMheKfsst6NS_Xo/edit?usp=sharing . Please read through this if you haven’t already. 2. Modular hash functions (and symmetric primitives) for region compatibility. People using Hyperledger in China are required to use government-approved cryptographic algorithms. We need to discuss how to best deal with this. 3. Updates and questions from the devs on z-mix and the shared signature library.
Thanks a lot for your time, and I hope to hear from many of you tomorrow.
Thanks, Hart
