Documentation Workgroup: Agenda for Friday, 17 July

Anthony O'Dowd <a_o-dowd@...>

Hi All,

We will hold the documentation workgroup calls this Friday -- with both an Eastern hemisphere and Western hemisphere call.  You're always very welcome to this call; we value your participation.

You can read about last week's calls at https://wiki.hyperledger.org/display/fabric/2020+07+10+DWG+Agenda You'll see significant minutes for both the Eastern and Western hemisphere calls, and recordings for both sessions. Our Eastern and Western hemisphere calls are very well attended at the moment -- thanks to all for your contributions and collaboration.

Our Eastern hemisphere call continues to have excellent contributions our  Japanese and Malayalam colleagues.

Aneena and the Malayalam team make a great deal of progress in many areas, with documentation progressing well.  It's taken a little bit of a back seat while the Asia Pacific Study Circle starts, as well as preparation for the Women in Blockchain event being organized by Saintgits for early August.  You can learn more about the Study Circle here: https://lnkd.in/ggMJqKk It looks like it was a great event, and it will be continuing weekly for 8 weeks. We'll get a full update from Aneena tomorrow. Aneena has also started discussions on a Hindi translation, so please reach out to her if you're interested.  Thanks to Aneena and Saintgits for their wonderful contributions.

Tsujita-san, Kondo-san, Nishijima-san and Koita-san from the Japanese workgroup shared details of their meet-up which was very successful. They've resolved some small issues with DCOs, and a significant number of PRs are now in flight.  The team also shared details of a useful translation tool for first pass translations (as did Aneena), and we've added these as guidance to the documentation. Thank you to the Japanese team, and looking forward to tomorrow's update.

Our Western hemisphere call kept us up to date confirming the release of 2.2, our LTS release!  A wonderful milestone for the whole project! There was a brief discussion on getting started on 2.3 follow-on work for the rest of the year. There was a good discussion on documentation analytics and David will be following up significantly with the team this week. We reviewed the new i18n documentation, and discussed a documentation campaign; again a discussion item David will be leading tomorrow. Chris shared a great update on the sample workgroup - clearly there's lots of important activity in progress, and it was great to get early line-of-sight of this work.  A brief discussion followed on the status of certification, given V2 LTS, and Pam shared a new feature in GitHub builds (enabled by Ry) to improve documentation reviewer's lives with easy access to HMTL doc builds.
